I had my hip replaced a year ago at age 56. And if you’re thinking, “Hey, she’s way too young for that!” I’ll blush and say thank you.
Age aside, the reality is that I had Osteoarthritis in my left hip, which caused fluid, benign cysts, and bone spurs to develop, despite – or maybe exacerbated by – my active lifestyle. I was in intermittent, and sometimes excruciating, pain every day.
I was no fan of the idea of surgery, but I knew I had to do something, so on July 1, 2025, I had a full hip replacement.
I know I wasn’t alone in dealing with an injury and surgery, so I wanted to share some of the products that made – and continue to make – my life more enjoyable.
Back-to-school season is one of the best times of year to save money—and not just for students, parents, and teachers. Retailers slash prices on everything from office supplies and electronics to storage bins, clothing, and household basics to attract shoppers during the late-summer rush. While these sales may be marketed toward classrooms and dorm rooms, many of the deals can easily benefit working homeowners, freelancers, or anyone trying to stay organized on a budget. It’s a great opportunity to stock up on practical items you use year-round at significantly lower prices.
The key is approaching these seasonal sales strategically. With the right mindset, back-to-school season can be one of the smartest times of year to save on everyday essentials—for anyone.
As you prepare for your kids to go back to school, those supplies and clothes can add up fast – especially with prices ticking up because of tariffs. You need to buy everything on the school-issued lists AND clothing/footwear for the kids, who have grown like weeds. Here are some tips for saving on everything your kiddos need, from clothing to cleats.

Supporting a college student or recent graduate can be a tricky balancing act. Many parents want to help their adult children succeed, but they also have responsibilities of their own, including meeting their financial goals.
Thankfully, meaningful support doesn’t always require writing large checks or covering every expense. In fact, some of the most valuable help comes in the form of guidance, encouragement, and practical assistance, with a dash of thoughtful financial support that fits comfortably within your budget.
Whether your child is pursuing a higher education, entering the workforce, or simply adjusting to independent living, there are ways to help without creating significant financial strain for either of you. The key is finding a balance that empowers them while protecting your own financial well-being.

Want a deal? Hire a lawyer. Yes — attorneys are expensive. But what’s really expensive is losing out on a payday you are definitely owed, having to fight for your brand name in court, or getting sued by a client.
The truth is, most legal problems that sink small businesses don’t come out of nowhere. They grow quietly in the background — in agreements that were never written down, contracts that were never fully read, or decisions that were made based on advice from AI instead of qualified counsel. By the time the damage is visible, it’s already done.
Entrepreneurship demands that you wear a lot of hats. But there’s a difference between being resourceful and taking on risks your business can’t afford. Legal missteps have a way of compounding — one bad contract can trigger a chain of consequences that drains your finances, stalls your growth, and pulls your focus away from the work you actually love.
The good news is that most of these costly mistakes are entirely preventable. Here are five of the most common legal mistakes entrepreneurs make, and what you can do to protect yourself before they happen.
