Clothing and shoes are often gender-specific, which isn’t ideal when you are buying for someone who has a more gender-neutral style or someone who identifies as Non-Binary. Thankfully, many brands are making items that are ideal for men, women, and everyone in between. Here are my tried-and-tested picks. Looking for more? JEWELRY
Banter by Piercing Pagoda Permanent Jewelry ($80 and up)
Banter by Piercing Pagoda is the nation’s largest specialty kiosk retailer, and they have recently introduced permanent jewelry at many locations. If you are not familiar with permanent jewelry, you select a bracelet or anklet from a variety of styles. Your piece is then perfectly sized and fused to be worn indefinitely. I love the idea of giving a gift certificate and treating yourself and your recipient for a moment to remember.
I Hate Steven Singer Real Natural Black Diamond Studs ($148)
A twist on the classic diamond stud, these twinkling black diamonds are delicate, edgy, and unexpected. They are available in 14K White Gold or 14K Rose Gold and are comfortable enough to be worn all the time.
Maison Miru Explorer Bracelet ($80)
This unisex paperclip chain can be worn alone or as a bold addition to any bracelet stack. This sturdy chain will quickly be added to your recipient’s regular rotation. Add charms, like an evil eye or a lightning bolt, for personalization! Available in silver or gold and in a variety of sizes, starting at 6.5”.
CLOTHING
Paka The Crew ($149)
Who wants to give a boring sweater when you can give this cozy crew from Paka? It’s made from 65 percent Royal Alpaca fiber, which is ultra soft, moisture-wicking, thermoregulating, and antibacterial. The cut is flattering and the unique details make this unisex sweater look very expensive. Available in Sky Blue and Light Grey, and also in a Hoodie style.
Walmart Love & Sports Collection (all under $30)
This all-gender collection of athleisure, includes joggers, crewnecks, and zip hoodies. I tried the jogger and the quality and fit are excellent. Designed for everyone and anyone, they are perfect for the cold weather, and you cannot beat the price!
Coalatree Trailhead Pants ($99)
Ideal for the outdoorsy type on your list, these pants are perfect for hiking and camping, no matter the conditions. They stretch with your every move like a workout pant, but look more polished. They come in two widths (unisex + size inclusive), are waterproof, tear-resistant, antimicrobial, and available in 7 colors. I tried the new Rust, which is a nice change from black.
Free Fly Bamboo Flex Hoodie ($84)
You may already know how much I love bamboo fabric and I’m adding this luxe Hoodie to my list of favorites. It’s cut beautifully so it’s very flattering. It’s also lightweight, silky soft, and offers UPF protection. Available in men’s and women’s sizes in a variety of colors (the Women’s Stormy Sea is gorgeous).
Unhide Shleepy ($119)
I love Unhide’s throw blankets and pillows, so I was very excited to try the fuzzy, wearable Shleepy, which has a hood and pockets and is available in 6 colors. I’m happy to report that it is in regular rotation while I WFH or cozy up on the couch. It’s like a sweater, but better.
FOOTWEAR
Infinity Footwear Everon Sneaker from Medical Scrubs Collections ($99.95 and up)
Designed for medical professionals but perfect for casual wear or long days of sightseeing, these shoes are ultra-light, provide generous arch support, and have slip-resistant soles, a breathable stretch knit upper, and an antimicrobial-treated insole and lining. They are available in both men’s and women’s styles & sizes, with lots of colors and patterns available – I chose the Oceanic Ombre and have received many compliments! I prefer to wear them without socks and appreciate that they are easy to slip on and off without untying them.
P.F. Flyers Center Collection ($60 and up)
Available in Hi or Lo and in lots of colors, these unisex sneaks give a little retro pizzazz to any outfit. And they’re good for you – P.F. stands for Posture Foundation…the insole was developed in 1937 and is known for its comfort and support. I can vouch. This is an incredibly comfortable shoe.
Pons Avarcas Sandals ($95 and up)
These incredibly comfortable and chic sandals are the traditional handmade leather sandals of Menorca, Spain. They are designed for durability and versatility, available in sizes infant through a men’s 13 and over 40 colors (the metallics are my favorite). There is also the option of a slingback or ankle strap and classic, espadrille, platform, or wedge soles.
