Best Deals in February 2019 (and What to Avoid!)

posted in: Monthly Deals

With February comes Valentine’s Day and President’s Day.

Ahead of Valentine’s Day, we’ll see plenty of gift-related deals, including jewelry, fragrance, and chocolate.

Right on the heels of Valentine’s Day is the President’s Day 3-day weekend which brings mattress deals and other sales in the Home category.

Just in time for early tax prep (groan), tax software will be well priced in case you need an upgrade.

Here are some of the best deals in February 2019 (and which “deals” to avoid!):

Valentine’s Day

This month, we’ll see discounts in the gift category, including chocolate, flowers, and perfume. This is also one of the better times of the year to score jewelry deals.

Keep in mind that with jewelry (and with flowers), the deal experts at Slickdeals warn that retailers might offer deals on temporarily inflated prices, so be sure to comparison shop before making a purchase.

Look out for post-Valentine’s Day clearance sales after the big day.

What Not to Buy in February

Flowers

Flowers are more like a “maybe”. They are a Valentine’s Day staple, but prices are often inflated. Be sure to comparison shop, and if you’re ordering online, order early to get the best deals and avoid fees for expedited shipping.

Small Electronics

Avoid purchasing small consumer electronics this month. Items such as laptops, desktops, tablets, and video game consoles are best bought in November, during Black Friday sales. If you can’t wait until then, select retailers hold an early installment during “Black Friday in July” events.
