The policy of locking up items at big stores was supposed to curb shoplifting in the U.S. in the wake of the pandemic. However, the CEO of Walgreens says the anti-shoplifting strategy appears to have backfired and led to a loss in sales. Retail expert Trae Bodge isn’t surprised the anti-shoplifting policy is backfiring. Now, Walgreens and other major companies are said to be exploring new technology.
