WASHINGTON (ABC7) – What to buy in May
A trip to the beach, a celebration of Mom, and fun outdoor activities. Just a few things many of us will experience this month.
And you can save money on all of it.
Professional shopper Trae Bodge of slickdeals.net shows us how.
With one important holiday and lots of sunshine to enjoy this month, perhaps there are some things we should put on our shopping list.
“Thankfully, retailers that sell a lot of outdoor gear are trying to encourage us to get out there and get fit,” Bodge told 7 On Your Side.
There are all kinds of sales on athletic gear and apparel. Nike has a clearance sale where you can save up to 40 percent off on selected items this month.
And not to be outdone, Reebok and Adidas have big sales on running shoes too. You can find discounts on all athletic gear 30 to 50 percent off at many athletic retailers and big box stores.
Mother’s Day is coming and what we always see are sales in the jewelry category.
Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day are the two best times of the year to buy jewelry. Sales are real. JC Penny is offering 70 percent off. And at Zales, you can find savings up to 50 percent off.
If you are shopping for wedding or graduation gifts, or just need a new appliance, Home Depot, Sears, Williams Sonoma, and Maytag are all slashing prices on refrigerators, driers and vacuum cleaners.
Here’s what not to buy: hold off on summer clothing and computers this month. Bigger deals are coming later this summer.
One more day this month to be on the lookout for deals, and it’s Star Wars Day. Any and everything related to the movie series will be discounted Saturday, May Fourth.
May the Fourth be with you.
