There are so many rewards programs out there. You can earn points on everything from household essentials to travel, but it’s hard to know which programs are worth your time. For Gift Card Granny, I explore five of my favorite rewards programs.

  1. Earn While You Shop

If you frequent a specific store, it makes sense to reap the rewards of your loyalty. Many store cards are for that store only, which I find to be too limiting. I personally like a store card, like the Sears MasterCard (ShopYourWay.com/card) with Shop Your Way Rewards from my friends at Sears/Kmart. Their 5, 3, 2, 1 program offers 5% rewards on gas purchases, 3% at groceries and restaurants, 2% at Sears and Kmart and 1% on all other eligible purchases. You can then use those points towards future Sears or Kmart purchases!

  1. Prime Benefits

Do you love Amazon? Try the new Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card.  Once approved, you instantly receive a $70 Amazon.com gift card. On Amazon purchases, Prime members get 5% cash back and non-prime get 3%. You can also earn rewards on non-Amazon purchases, like travel, gas and food and get additional benefits like travel accident insurance, baggage delay insurance and purchase protection.

  1. Don’t Miss a Dime…and Make $ While You’re At It!

Online shoppers should also sign up for Earny. It it searches for price drops based on receipts in your email inbox and even writes emails to retailers on your behalf, often scoring you a refund for the difference. On top of that, they have a generous referral program where when your friends use a referral link you provide, you earn 5% of their refunds and 5% of their referrals’ refunds.

  1. Membership Has Its Privileges

For your every day personal care and household needs, the CVS ExtraCare Rewards program is a no-brainer. It provides members with ExtraSavings and ExtraBucks Rewards for shopping online or in-store, allowing them to save money with coupons that are relevant to their shopping history and earn rewards. Members earn 2% percent back in ExtraBucks Rewards on purchases, and you can get $5 in ExtraBucks Rewards after filling 10 prescriptions.

  1. Travel with Benefits

Whether you fly weekly or annually, fly with the same airline when you can and join their rewards program. Obviously, the more frequently you fly the more you benefit, but many airlines, like United, American and Delta, also allow you to earn miles towards free travel just by shopping. For instance, by shopping with the United Mileage Plus Shopping program (shopping.mileageplus.com), you can earn miles by shopping at over 850 stores. You can earn even more using their Mileage Plus Credit Card. Learn more about these programs at Cartera.com.
