My Favorite CBD Products for Beauty and Wellness

Can I just say… CBD is my new favorite ingredient! If you are not familiar, CBD stands for Cannabidiol, which is an extract from the cannabis plant. Marijuana is also from the cannabis plant, but don’t worry, these products contain little-to-no THC, which is the ingredient in Marijuana that makes you feel loopy.

You may be wondering why you have been hearing about CBD so much these days. Largely due to the recent legalization in several states and new studies about its treatment benefits, CBD has become today’s darling ingredient. But, this is no fleeting trend. The treatment benefits are many, and the popularity is spreading like wildfire. What was only recently available on dusty shelves of local health food stores and independent websites, will soon be readily available for mass consumption at chain stores, like CVS (Amazon does not allow the sale of CBD products, but that won’t last).

The benefits of CBD are pretty broad, but simply put, CBD is known to be calming and anti-inflammatory, whether it’s applied topically or taken internally. After a couple months of joyful product testing, here are my favorite CBD-infused products. And CBD brands, if you’re reading this, I will happily expand this list, so please reach out if you would like to introduce me to your CBD products.

My Favorite Topical CBD Products

Bevara Skin Care Exfoliating Cleanser ($40)

If your skin needs a pick-me-up, this scrubbing cleanser will do the trick! In addition to broad-spectrum CBD, which is anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant, the cleanser contains aloe leaf juice, Vitamins A, B, C and E and bamboo beads to give the skin a refreshing scrubbing. The citrusy scent is divine!

W!nk Defend CBD SPF 30 ($34)

I believe strongly in the anti-aging properties of sunscreen and I’ve been using SPF on my face year ‘round for years. In the past year or so, I’ve developed a sensitivity to most sunscreen ingredients, but using the process of elimination, I have found that Zinc Oxide does not bother me. Unfortunately, the problem is that so many products that contain Zinc Oxide feel very heavy on my skin and/or leave a white cast. I could go on, but I won’t because this sunscreen is the answer to all my SPF concerns. The sunscreen ingredients are Octinoxate (which I guess I’m also not sensitive to) and Zinc Oxide, as well as CBD. It’s for face and body and works beautifully under makeup.

Color Up Therapeutics 100mg UV Damage Repair Moisturizer ($65)

This rich cream contains CBD, and unique ingredients, like Lingonberry Stem Cells and Watermelon Extract is such a treat to apply before bed. It feels rich and luxurious, but not heavy or oily. I feel like it has improved both the texture and tone of my skin.

Color Up Therapeutics 100mg Detoxifying Clay Face Masque ($37)

This is a new product from Color Up Therapeutics, and I think it will be a winner. In addition to the CBD, it contains Kaolin Clay to cleanse and absorb oil, Salicylic Acid to exfoliate and a slew of nourishing ingredients. I (literally) just tried it and my skin feels SO clean, but what really got me was the spectacular scent.  Like a spa in a bottle.

Life Bloom Organics Nano Hemp Muscle Recovery Balm ($44.95)

I somehow managed to pull a muscle near my hip when I was working out, so I tried this balm, which contains nanotized hemp and magnesium sulfate. I felt immediate relief, which I wasn’t expecting. The relief was mostly closer to the surface and not deep down, but the relief I felt gave me a lot more mobility than I had, and I appreciated that the scent was light and minty. This is not your mama’s Ben Gay.

To amplify the effects, I paired it with their Nano Hemp Muscle Recovery Formula spray (see below).

And a little teaser – these next two will be available in late June…

eraclea skin care CBD Calming Facial Mist ($65)

I love facial mists. I use them right when I wake up, to freshen makeup during the day, after a workout or on planes. This CBD mist is richer than the average – more like a light serum – and I love the way it makes my skin feel refreshed and hydrated.

eraclea skin care Eye Surround Cream with CBD oil ($65)

This is marketed as a lightweight eye cream, but I found it to be quite rich and luxurious feeling. It does absorb quickly enough to be used under makeup or at night and it’s a real treat for the eye area.

My Favorite Sub-lingual CBD Formulas

Life Bloom Organics Nano Hemp Muscle Recovery Formula ($40)

This is one of several sub-lingual sprays from Life Bloom Organics. To help with muscle recovery, the formula contains hemp-extracted CBD, Curcumin, and essential oils, like peppermint and mustard. I find that this helps with recovery after a tough workout. There are a variety of remedies to choose from like a PMS formula and a sleep formula, that are formulated to treat that specific issue. You can use the sprays a few times a day if you’d like, and the slim spray bottle is very convenient to take with you.

Color Up Therapeutics Full Spectrum Daily Sublingual 500mg ($70)

I found that this tincture can be taken at any point during the day (some tinctures make me tired) and it gives me a sense of calm and well-being. My thoughts are clear and I can get plenty of work done, but I feel less stressed and distracted. There is virtually no taste – just a slight hint of mint.

My Favorite CBD Edibles

Veritas Farms Cannabinoid Rich Hemp Gummies ($35 for 30)

These organic yummy gummies contain 5mg CBD isolate and taste delicious. I’ve taken one in advance of (or even during) a potentially stressful event and it makes me feel so much more relaxed. Just yesterday, I took one before my semi-annual cleaning at the dentist. I have to say, it was the most pleasant cleaning ever! The Gummies are also available with Melatonin if you have trouble sleeping. Use code ROMY15 for 15% off.

Feel Good Edibles 150mg CBD Peach Gummy ($20 for 25)

I had very similar results with these gummies. They taste great and take the edge off if I’m feeling stressed or anxious. Note that these gummies are not psychoactive, so they don’t make you feel impaired, they just create a feel-good mood. Because CBD is also anti-inflammatory, they can be very helpful for any aches and pains.

Papa & Barkley Hemp Infused Capsules ($110)

CBD productsIf sugary snacks aren’t your thing, try these capsules, which contain coconut oil and hemp. The recommended dose is an easy 1-capsule and I found that they were just a touch stronger than the gummies.

Very interesting CBD article. I was wondering if it was really effective.
