Beauty Secrets – Tiffani Carter-Thompson

So, what is “Beauty Secrets”? Beauty Secrets is where you can learn about the beauty-full inner workings of women who are moving and shaking in their world, whether it be in beauty, personal finance or somewhere in between.

Today’s muse is Tiffani Carter-Thompson. Tiffani and I met waaaaay back in the mid-90’s through my boyfriend at the time. Thankfully, our friendship survived that tumultuous relationship! Tiffani was just starting out her career then but she has become a PR powerhouse – and a recent CEW Beauty’s Top Talent honoree – with over 15 years of practice that spans across beauty, wellness and lifestyle. Currently, as Vice President of Global Communications for the philosophy brand at Coty Inc. she leads influencer marketing, public relations and social media, and was instrumental in creating philosophy’s first brand-wide charity, the Hope & Grace Initiative for women’s mental health.

Here are Tiffani’s Beauty Secrets:

  1. “A beauty (and total wellness) must for me is fitness and hydration. I do CrossFit 4 times a week, which is crucial to my wellness. Fitness of any kind gets the metabolism and circulation moving and by increasing blood flow, helps nourish skin cells and keeps them vital. And I drink one glass of room temperature lemon water right when I wake up (I have it bedside), about 6 glasses through the day/evening and one glass before bed.
  2. My mom always taught me that less is more
, so I tend to have a minimalist makeup look day-to-day. Mascara and lip balm are a must-do daily, plus a little bronzer. Then I build from there, depending on my day meetings and evening plans I might add a bright red lip like the Orange Imagine from YSL to really add a little glamour.
  3. Skin care health is so important. Every morning I cleanse with philosophy purity made simple facial cleansing oil (I love how hydrating a cleansing oil is, especially in the winter) and at night I use purity facial cleansing cloths (must remove makeup at night!). And I never skip my weekly peel regimen to keep skin smooth and healthy. I peel twice a week by assigning 2 “peel days”: Wednesday is philosophy the microdelivery triple-acid brightening peel pads and Sundays I do the microdelivery in-home vitamin c peptide peel.
  4. I don’t wash my hair every day – I have naturally curly hair that needs its moisture to keep a good curl. Every other day I use Shea Moisture Conditioner (most conditioners also have cleansing properties) and in the shower while hair is wet I use a wide tooth comb to pull the conditioner through, detangle and open the curl pattern. Then, some days, I will braid my hair in two plaits at night with a leave-in conditioner, and in the morning when I take the braids out I have a longer bigger curl that gives me more volume. Every 3 months I have to get a style and cut by Edris Nichols at Edris Salon – her salon is a total experience (very zen, like a quick getaway) and she knows how to keep good curls! I also can’t live without my Harry Josh Pro Dryer and Diffuser – 3 minutes on wet hair in the morning and I’m done.”
