Beauty Secrets: Cameron Huddleston

This week’s muse is Cameron Huddleston, is an award-winning personal finance journalist and the Life + Money columnist for GOBankingRates.com. You have probably benefited from her sage advice on GOBankingRates, Yahoo!, MSN, Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, Money and other online and print publications. U.S. News & World Report and AOL Daily Finance named her one of the top personal finance influencers to follow on Twitter, and you should take their advice!

As a working mom of three children, I have very little time to indulge myself. Plus, as a personal finance journalist, I’m reluctant to spend a lot of money on beauty products and routines. But there are a few things I do to take care of myself and keep a youthful appearance (we can try, right?).

Here are Cameron’s beauty secrets:

  1. When the weather gets cold, I love to use Beautycounter Nourishing Cleansing Balm. Beautycounter products are made up of primarily of all-natural ingredients and leave out harmful ingredients found in many other skincare products. What I love about the Nourishing Cleansing Balm, in particular, is that is truly does nourish my dry skin in the winter. It’s like a nightly facial – and definitely worth the price ($80).

2. I love getting professional manicures and pedicures, but it’s a little luxury I only indulge in occasionally because a) I’ve figured out how to give myself a pretty good pedicure and b) manicures never last long enough for me to justify them as a regular expense. When I do treat myself, though, I do it with my two daughters. It’s a great way for us to spend girl time together, and something we look forward to a couple times a year.

3. I’m not a big fan of exercise for the sake of exercise. I find activities such as running on a treadmill boring, so it’s hard to stay motivated. Instead, I take an adult dance class. When I was young, I took dance – ballet and jazz – for 10 years and loved it. So I continue to do what I love to stay active. The added bonus is that I get to hang out with some really fun people in my class – keeps us all young.”
