As your resident shopping expert, I would be remiss if I didn’t address what has been blowing up our email inboxes in recent days: Memorial Day sales. Three-day weekends are usually good for sales, and Memorial Day is one of the best when it comes to discounts. Some of the discounts I’m the most excited about are deals on bigger-ticket items, like home appliances and mattresses. You can also expect lots of deals in other categories, like beauty and home.

Firebirds Wood Fired Grill: Dine with a Gold Star family, veteran or active-duty service member, and their lunch or dinner is complimentary on May 27. Dine in. Complimentary entree must be equal or less in value than paid entree. Valid ID required.
Fogo de Chão: All veterans and active-duty personnel get 50% off their entire meal on May 27 at all U.S. and Puerto Rico locations. Up to three guests (for each military veteran or personnel will also receive 10% off their meal).
McCormick & Schmick’s: Gold Star parents and spouses, veterans, and active members of the military and National Guard get a complimentary lunch or dinner on May 27th.
Texas de Brazil: Veterans and active-duty military get 50% off on Memorial Day, plus 20% off for up to eight guests dining with them.
Twin Peaks: Members of the military eat free on May 27. Order from the special menu 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
